New Year's Dinner at Mary Janet & André's

Samuel was pleased to be invited to the van den Bergh New Year's dinner.  The dinner was delayed until mid January as new windows were being installed at the condominium.

Everything revolves around the schedule of a two-year old, so we started early.  Samuel seemed right at home as he raced around checking everything out, including the new windows.

He played with the toys that Barbara had brought, including bubble wrap, a school bus, and an "avion".

The dinner was delicious, as always.  Samuel particularly liked the soup.

Grant’s Birthday

Grant and Bill drove up to Samuel’s for 5 pm bringing food and a birthday pineapple cake.  Barbara met Kirk at the NAC and they came up, arriving a few minutes later.  Soon Samuel and Karine arrived too.

Soon everyone got to work putting the feast together.  Samuel played with some Christmas party favours and showed off his new piano.

Grant noticed that he and Samuel were wearing the same kind of “bas”.

Samuel showed Grant that he knows how to feed the “chiens”.

Then it was time for us to eat too.  Samuel enjoyed the salad and couscous but the hot lentil casserole was too spicy.

Kirk prepared some delicious lemon squares and Grant enjoyed his birthday “cake”.

Drop-in On The Way To The Cottage

We planned to celebrate New Years at the cottage with the Macquarie's and Tims at Cedar Lake.

We packed some food and had a lunch stop at Samuel's.  Kirk was home but Karine was working.  Grant and Samuel played games, then we had lunch.  Samuel showed us his large bonhomme de neige out in the yard.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day

Kirk, Karine and Samuel slept over and we were all up bright and early.  We wanted to have breakfast and open Sam's stocking and one gift before Karine had to leave for work at 7:15.

 

The rest of us got another coffee and opened more gifts.  Samuel tried on Craig's toque with the built in headphones.  Then he played a few tunes on the piano and shot some hoops with his new basketball.

Then Samuel had a bath, which he really enjoyed, playing with his new boat and frog toys.

After lunch Samuel had a good nap.

Wanda, Stephanie, Valarie and her Grant came over in the afternoon.  Kirk went to get Karine, and they returned for a short visit before Samuel got up and the three of them left for Aurel & Diane's.

Anne and Bruce came over and we all had Christmas dinner together.  The next day, the whole gang got together again at Wanda's for a Boxing Day pot luck.  The cats were closed in the basement, but Samuel went down for a play - he loves a "minou".  Valarie's cat, Daisy, was especially popular.
