Samuel plays at grandpa's & grandma's while Kirk finished the attic ducts

July 20, 2011

It was blistering hot in the attic, but Kirk was determined to finish this job before the wedding.  Grant helped him while we played with Samuel.

Samuel had a snack, then played in then yard.  Bill got out the old wagon out and we took him around the block before supper.

After supper, Barbara got out some bubbles, and Samuel and Grant enjoyed playing with them.

Before heading for home, we gave them all fishing rods.  Samuel loved his and played in the car with it all the way home.

A quick visit with the tired boy

July 17, 2011

After a weekend at the cottage, we stopped in to see Samuel just before his bed time. He had finished supper and had a bath outside on the deck. He enjoyed the beach ball which we found floating in the lake.

Tired boy at the park

July 8

On way the cottage on Friday night we checked in with K&K&S&B&B and their neighours, Henk and Jody with their children Fenna and Jasper and their mini dog, Reuben. They were all gathered together for a picnic supper at Old Chelsea Park. Samuel rallied to play ball with Grant but soon was glad to settle into his chariot. Grant pushed him around and he soon fell asleep.

We hiked over to the homemade ice cream hot spot, La Cigale, and made ourselves comfortable in the beautiful flower garden. Jasper sportingly tried on Fenna's sunglasses while the others enjoyed their large waffle cones.

Samuel goes sliding again while dad fixes grandpa's roof

June 30

Kirk took the afternoon off work to come and finish the job on the roof.  His soon-to-be brother-in-law, Adrian, who is a roofer, came by to install new vents on the roof and trim the pine tree, while Kirk worked inside the attic hooking up pipes.

This gave Samuel another opportunity to try out his play structure and go to the park for another swing.

Samuel swings at the park

Sunday, June 26

What a pleasant afternoon - as Grandpa Bill was off paddling the Dumoine River, Barbara and Grant were designated Samuel sitters. B&B went with K&K to a visit Kirk's colleague's country spot near Almonte - a good place for dogs to run. So... we listened to Samuel chatting away on the monitor. He happily practices talking when he wakes up from a nap. He had a late lunch on the deck, very interested in our canary, Ari, who came out to join us. He waved and smiled at Ari.
Then he tried out his new climbing structure - he likes sliding! He loved chasing around the backyard after the brand new ball his parents got for him at their visit to Canadian Tire on the way over. Then he tried out the garage Barbara found a a recent neighbourhood garage sale.

Finally - a real hit - a trip to the park! He could have stayed in the swing all afternoon - but we got hot, so decided to get him  to try out some other activities. After a final swing, we headed home.

We improvised a short hockey practice.
He showed off his applesauce eating skills...  then it was time to head home. A very sleepy little boy.
